We are seeking a highly skilled Field Equipment Manager to join our team at IEA Infrastructure and Energy Alternatives. As a key member of our construction team, you will be responsible for implementing equipment maintenance practices on job sites, working with vendors to obtain parts and supplies, and implementing proper maintenance forecasting.
Key Responsibilities- Supervise field mechanics on assigned sites to ensure efficient and effective equipment maintenance.
- Assist in creating an equipment matrix to track start dates, call-off dates, milestones, availability, phase codes, and full descriptions of equipment.
- Establish local vendors for oil changes, tire repairs, and parts/consumables related to equipment.
- Assist in creating and adhering to an equipment budget for repairs, maintenance, and renting of assets.
- Attend daily Plan of the Day (POD) meetings to provide project team updates on repairs and maintenance.
- Order DOT numbers, truck decals, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and spill kits as needed.
- Ensure all DOT drivers have up-to-date medical cards, fuel, and driver logs.
- Verify that DOT-owned/rental trucks have correct DOT numbers on doors and cab cards in place.
- Submit Meter-o reports weekly for utilization.
- Assign approved drivers to pick-up trucks with assigned site numbers and ensure each truck has valid insurance cards and necessary documents.
- Conduct monthly truck/buggy rodeos to ensure assigned drivers, maintenance, cleanliness, and required items are in place.
- Create maintenance requests for maintenance, repairs, and damage in TENNA and verify completion.
- Ensure fluid analysis is completed on all preventative maintenance and provide support to field mechanics.
- Maintain a project maintenance schedule for owned/rented equipment and coordinate with site teams to complete work.
- Order daily inspection books and assign to each piece of equipment.
- Ensure inspections are turned in daily.
- Electronically submit thorough inbound/outbound inspections.
- Assist in scheduling trucking for equipment leaving or transferring to and from sites, ensuring bill of ladings (BOLs) are signed by carriers.
- Verify equipment is in working order before transporting to another job.
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Three years of prior heavy equipment/construction experience.
- Ability to read schematics.
- Strong problem-solving skills.
- High level of efficiency.
- Ability to work well independently or with others.
- Ability to use digital systems such as email, phone/tablet for inspections and photos, time tracking application, digital OEM manuals.
- Willingness to learn.
- Ability to work efficiently, independently, and follow through on assignments.
- Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to multi-task.
This role involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, requiring basic safety precautions. The work environment may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and loud noises. Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles. Frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals. Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, high, precarious places, outside weather conditions, and risk of electrical shock. Noise level in the work environment is usually loud.
