Job Title: Field Equipment Manager

Overview

IEA Infrastructure and Energy Alternatives is seeking a highly skilled Field Equipment Manager to join our team. As a key member of our operations team, you will be responsible for implementing equipment maintenance practices on job sites, working with vendors to obtain parts and supplies, and implementing proper maintenance forecasting.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervise field mechanics on assigned sites
  • Assist in creating an Equipment Matrix to include start dates and call-off dates, milestones, availability, phase code, and full description of equipment
  • Establish local vendors for oil changes, tire repairs, and parts/consumables related to equipment
  • Assist in creating and adhering to an equipment budget with regards to repairs, maintenance, and renting of assets
  • Attend Plan of the Day (POD) meetings daily to provide project team updates on repairs and maintenance
  • Order DOT numbers, truck decals, fire extinguishers, first aid kits, and spill kits
  • Ensure all DOT drivers have up-to-date medical cards and fuel and driver logs
  • Ensure DOT-owned/rental trucks are equipped with correct DOT numbers on doors and cab cards
  • Ensure Meter-o is submitted weekly for utilization
  • Assign approved drivers to all pick-up trucks with assigned site numbers, establish if the truck is leaving the site at the end of the day, and ensure each truck has valid insurance cards and documents
  • Conduct a truck/buggy rodeo at least once a month to ensure assigned drivers, maintenance, cleanliness, and ensure all trucks/buggies are equipped with required items
  • Create maintenance requests for maintenance, repairs, and damage in TENNA, along with verifying completion
  • Ensure fluid analysis is completed on all preventative maintenance and provide support to field mechanics
  • Maintain a Project Maintenance schedule on owned/rented equipment and coordinate with site teams to get work completed (repairs, maintenance, checks, etc.)
  • Order daily inspection books and assign to each piece of equipment
  • Ensure inspections are turned in on a daily basis
  • Electronically submit thorough inbound/outbound inspections
  • Assist in scheduling trucking for equipment leaving or transferring to and from sites; ensure bill of ladings (BOLs) are signed by carriers
  • Verify equipment is in working order prior to being transported to another job
  • Other duties as assigned

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred
  • Three years of prior heavy equipment/construction experience
  • Ability to read schematics
  • Strong problem-solving skills
  • High level of efficiency
  • Ability to work well independently or with others
  • Ability to use digital systems such as email, phone/tablet for inspections and photos, time tracking applications, digital OEM manuals
  • Willingness to learn
  • Ability to work efficiently, independently, and follow through on assignments
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and Internet
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Ability to multi-task

Working Environment

  • When visiting job sites, the work environment involves some exposure to hazards or physical risks, which require following basic safety precautions
  • This work environment may involve moderate exposure to unusual elements, such as extreme temperatures, dirt, dust, fumes, smoke, unpleasant odors, and/or loud noises
  • Regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and fumes or airborne particles
  • Frequently exposed to toxic or caustic chemicals
  • Occasionally exposed to wet and/or humid conditions; high, precarious places; outside weather conditions; and risk of electrical shock
  • Noise level in the work environment is usually loud
