Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated nursing professional to deliver comprehensive nursing care in a correctional environment. The role involves executing prescribed medical treatments and ensuring compliance with regulatory standards. This position is ideal for those with advanced practice training who can operate in specialized and autonomous roles.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Administer and document medications, including those refused by patients.
  • Conduct control and tool counts in collaboration with another nurse.
  • Maintain accountability for stock medications through regular counts and documentation.
  • Evaluate patients brought to the facility and admit them to the appropriate care unit as necessary.
  • Record nursing progress notes and maintain accurate patient records.
  • Diagnose and address patient health issues effectively.
  • Perform EKGs and blood draws, demonstrating strong assessment capabilities.
  • Conduct thorough health assessments to identify new or worsening symptoms.
  • Provide restorative or palliative care to patients in need.
  • Educate and counsel patients on health maintenance and illness prevention.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to address the health needs of patients.

Qualifications:
  • Must hold a Registered Nurse license in New York State.
  • At least one year of nursing experience is preferred, particularly in emergency or medical-surgical settings.
  • Orientation and training will be provided upon hiring.
  • Must be a self-motivated and independent thinker.
  • Strong team player with excellent organizational and interpersonal skills.
  • Able to manage multiple responsibilities with effective follow-up and communication.
  • Proficient in computer skills, including word processing and office scheduling.
  • Must adhere to facility policies regarding electronic devices.
  • Full-time availability is preferred, but part-time may be considered.
  • Current BLS certification and valid NYS nursing license required.
  • Willingness to work various shifts, including evenings and weekends.
  • Immediate positions available.

Shift Information: All shifts are available, with a requirement to work every other weekend and some holidays.
Contract Duration: Up to 2 years.
