Overview:
We are seeking a dedicated nursing professional to deliver comprehensive nursing care in a correctional environment. The role involves implementing nursing interventions and administering medications in accordance with established protocols and regulatory standards. You will work closely with licensed healthcare providers to execute prescribed medical regimens and contribute to patient care in a highly autonomous capacity.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Document administration of medications and any refusals.
  • Conduct medication inventory and ensure accountability with a second nurse.
  • Maintain accurate records of stock medications and document accordingly.
  • Evaluate patients brought to the unit and admit to the appropriate care program if necessary.
  • Record nursing progress notes for patient care.
  • Diagnose and manage patient health issues.
  • Perform EKGs and blood draws, utilizing strong assessment skills.
  • Conduct health assessments to identify new or worsening symptoms.
  • Administer prescribed medications effectively.
  • Provide restorative or palliative care to patients in need.
  • Educate and counsel patients on health maintenance and illness prevention.
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary healthcare team to address the health needs of patients.

Qualifications:
  • Must hold a Registered Nurse license in New York State.
  • At least one year of nursing experience is preferred, with a focus on emergency or medical-surgical settings.
  • Orientation and training will be provided upon hiring.
  • Self-motivated and capable of independent decision-making.
  • Strong team player with excellent organizational and planning abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks with effective follow-up and communication skills.
  • Proficient in computer applications, including word processing and scheduling software.
  • Must comply with facility policies regarding electronic devices.
  • Full-time availability is preferred, with part-time considered.
  • Current BLS certification and active NYS nursing license required.
  • Flexible shifts available, including evenings and overnight hours.
  • Immediate openings available.

Shift Details: All shifts are available, with a requirement to work every other weekend and some holidays.
Contract Duration: Up to 2 years.
