Job Summary

California State University, Monterey Bay is seeking a dedicated and experienced Assistant Professor of Social Work to join our faculty. As a key member of our department, you will be responsible for teaching Master of Social Work courses, developing innovative curriculum, and contributing to the growth of our college, department, and program.

Responsibilities
  • Teach Master of Social Work courses with a focus on student-centered, flipped classroom, and outcomes-based pedagogy
  • Develop and implement an innovative curriculum that meets the needs of our diverse student body
  • Contribute to the growth and development of our college, department, and program
  • Engage in research and scholarship that advances the field of social work
  • Participate in departmental and university service, including committee work and professional development
Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or equivalent degree in Social Work or a related field
  • Experience teaching social work courses at the graduate level
  • Strong research and scholarship record, with a focus on applied research and community engagement
  • Ability to mentor ethnically diverse students, particularly Hispanics/Latinos
  • Experience working effectively in an ethnically and culturally diverse campus community
Preferred Qualifications
  • License or license eligible with clear experience at the LCSW practice level
  • Knowledge of school systems, homelessness, or substance abuse
  • Experience teaching computer-assisted and/or online content
  • Interest and ability in community engagement and participatory research
  • Track record of external funding and peer-reviewed publications

Compensation

Anticipated Hiring Salary Range: $6,666 to $7,083* mo ($80,000 to $85,000 annual)

CSU Salary Schedule

*CSUMB provides pay scales representing its good faith estimate of what the university reasonably expects to pay for this position. The pay offered to a selected candidate will be determined on factors such as (but not limited to) the scope and responsibilities of the position, the qualifications of the selected candidate, departmental budget availability, internal equity, and CSU systemwide pay for comparable jobs.
