About the Position

This position is located at the Presidio of Monterey, California Medical Detachment. The selected candidate will work in a family advocacy environment, assessing incidents of abuse, providing counseling to abusers or victims, and developing treatment plans to those involved in abuse.

Responsibilities
  • Conduct comprehensive and complex risk assessments, clinical interviews, and psychosocial assessments of children and adults.
  • Make treatment recommendations to the multi-disciplinary Family Advocacy Program Case Review Committee team.
  • Obtain relevant data from various agencies to compile information and present for a determination of abuse or neglect to the Family Advocacy Program Case Review Committee.
  • Analyze the information and use professional judgment concerning difficult decisions that may have serious consequences to the child or the family.
  • Provide therapeutic treatment to victims, offenders, and family members of those involved in domestic violence or child abuse or neglect.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in social work from a school accredited by the Council on Social Work Education.
  • One year of specialized experience in a family advocacy environment, assessing incidents of abuse, providing counseling to abusers or victims, and developing treatment plans to those involved in abuse.
  • A current, active, valid, unrestricted clinical license to practice social work independently, offered by a U.S. state, district, commonwealth, territory, or jurisdiction.
Additional Information

This is a Term position NOT TO EXCEED (NTE) 3 years and may be extended up to a total of six years. This position MAY be made permanent without further competition. This position may be filled as a Temporary Promotion or a Temporary Reassignment and may be extended for current Department of Army employees.
