About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Work Investigator to join our team at the Children's Law Center of California. As a key member of our organization, you will play a vital role in advocating for the rights and well-being of children and youth in the foster care system.

Key Responsibilities
  • Visit clients, caretakers, and other relevant individuals to develop trusting relationships and gather information about the children's living situations, developmental progress, and emotional well-being.
  • Conduct interviews with caretakers and children to observe and document their current circumstances, identifying areas where additional support may be needed.
  • Evaluate and recommend services that could benefit the child and family, including referrals to community resources and support services.
  • Collaborate with attorneys to provide critical information and support for client cases, attending meetings and hearings as necessary.
  • Manage and maintain a caseload, scheduling appointments and meetings as needed.
Requirements
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, exercising discretion and judgment in high-pressure situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively engage with children, families, and colleagues from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify and address complex issues affecting children and families.
  • Valid California driver's license, reliable automobile, and auto insurance required.
  • AA degree or 60 college units, or 2 years of direct experience working with children in a related field.
