Role Overview

At Apple, we're pushing the boundaries of innovation and technology. As a CPU Power Engineer, you'll play a critical role in shaping the future of our products. Your expertise in power modeling and reduction, prototyping, and correlating pre-silicon expectations with post-silicon measurements will be instrumental in getting power-efficient products to millions of customers quickly.

Key Responsibilities

As a CPU Power Engineer, you'll have the following responsibilities:

  • Develop and drive new ideas in micro-architecture and/or circuits to reduce CPU power consumption.
  • Drive budgeting, measurements, and analysis of CPU power for various use cases.
  • Collaborate with micro-architects and physical designers to identify power reduction opportunities.
  • Conduct pre- and post-silicon power modeling and measurement across multiple use cases on current and future CPU designs.
  • Work with software and platform teams to optimize CPU power efficiency and usage of power management features.
  • Define and tune power management features.
  • Create early power models to inform architectural trade-offs.


Requirements

To succeed in this role, you'll need:

  • A minimum of 10+ years of relevant industry experience.
  • Broad knowledge of software, operating systems, computer system organization, circuit analysis, and logic design.
  • Familiarity with high-performance CPU architecture.
  • Knowledge of logic design principles, including timing and power implications.
  • Strong C programming and perl/python scripting skills.
  • CMOS design and analysis expertise.
  • Hands-on lab experience characterizing and productizing power management features.

At Apple, we offer a comprehensive compensation package, including a base pay range of $175,800 to $312,200, depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
