Apple's Silicon Engineering Group (SEG) is at the forefront of designing high-performance, energy-efficient microprocessors that power our cutting-edge products, including the iPhone, iPad, Watch, Vision Pro, and Mac.

We are in search of a seasoned technical leader to spearhead architecture and RTL for premier CPU power management solutions.

Key Responsibilities:
As a CPU RTL Architect, you will take ownership or contribute to the following areas:

  • Development and specification of microarchitecture, progressing from initial high-level architectural exploration to detailed specifications.
  • Ownership of RTL design, focusing on the development, assessment, and refinement to meet power, performance, area, and timing objectives.
  • Verification support, assisting the verification team in developing test benches, applying formal methods, and conducting simulations/emulations for functional verification.
  • Performance exploration and correlation, investigating high-performance strategies and collaborating with the performance verification team to ensure the RTL design meets performance targets.
  • Design delivery, partnering with a multifunctional engineering team to implement and verify physical design concerning timing, area, reliability, testability, and power.
Essential Qualifications:
Minimum BS degree with over 10 years of relevant industry experience. Comprehensive understanding of microprocessor architecture, with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

Dynamic voltage and frequency scaling, advanced thermal and energy management, power state definition and management, dynamic clocking solutions, mitigation strategies for Di/dt, micro-architecture strategies for enhanced power integrity, debugging, error handling, security solutions, DFT strategies, clock generation, reset control, and asynchronous clock crossing strategies, as well as multi-voltage design strategies.

Proficiency in Verilog and/or VHDL, with experience in simulators and waveform debugging tools. Strong grasp of logic design principles, including timing and power implications. Familiarity with low power microarchitecture techniques and high-performance techniques, along with trade-offs in CPU microarchitecture. Experience in C or C++ programming and using interpretive languages such as Perl or Python.

Compensation & Benefits:
At Apple, base pay is just one aspect of our comprehensive compensation package, which is determined within a specified range.

This structure allows for growth and development within your role.

The base pay range for this position is between $175,800 and $312,200, depending on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.

Apple employees have the opportunity to become shareholders through participation in Apple's discretionary employee stock programs.

Additionally, employees are eligible for discretionary restricted stock unit awards and can purchase Apple stock at a discount through the Employee Stock Purchase Plan.
