Job Title: Social Worker II

Job Summary:

The Social Worker II position is a critical role in the Baltimore County Department of Social Services. As a Social Worker II, you will provide in-home clinical and case management services to families and children in crisis, ensuring their safety and well-being. This position requires strong clinical skills, an understanding of family dynamics, mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, and trauma.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate, evaluate, and monitor individual cases to ensure the safety and well-being of children and families.
  • Develop and implement individual treatment/service plans to prevent or alleviate personal or environmental problems of clients.
  • Provide crisis intervention and individual or group counseling to clients and their families.
  • Consult with other health or social work professionals to address issues affecting recovery, welfare, and rehabilitation of clients.
  • Act as a liaison between health, education, welfare, and other community agencies to establish an integrated and coordinated program.
  • Perform case management, prepare case histories, court documents, and other reports, memos, and correspondence.
  • Maintain accurate records of client activities.
  • Participate in meetings and training sessions to enhance professional development.

Requirements:

  • Possession of a master's degree in social work from a college or university approved by the Council of Social Work Education.
  • Two years' experience rendering professional social work services.
  • Possession of a license, issued by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners, as a Licensed Social Worker.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in in-home clinical and case management services to families and children in crisis.
  • Strong clinical skills and an understanding of family dynamics, mental health, substance abuse, domestic violence, and trauma.

Working Conditions:

The work of this classification is essentially sedentary but may include occasional walking, standing, and/or other limited physical activities. Some positions within this classification require traveling between work sites.
