Job Summary

Baltimore County is seeking a highly motivated and dedicated Social Worker I to join our team. As a Social Worker I, you will provide direct professional social work services to specialized populations, including vulnerable adults, substance abusers, and physically or mentally ill individuals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Investigate, evaluate, and monitor individual cases.
  • Assist in rendering diagnosis and developing individual treatment/service plans designed to prevent or alleviate personal or environmental problems of clients in a social services, health, or mental health program.
  • Determine suitability of individuals for special programs.
  • Provide crisis intervention and individual or group counseling to clients and their families.
  • Develop and/or participate in public awareness and education programs.
  • Consult with other health or social work professionals concerning issues affecting recovery, welfare, and rehabilitation of clients.
  • Act as a liaison between health, education, welfare, and other community agencies to establish an integrated and coordinated program.
  • Perform case management, prepares case histories, court documents and other reports, memos, and correspondence.
  • Maintain accurate records of client activities.
  • Participate in meetings.
Requirements
  • Possession of a master's degree in social work from a college or university approved by the Council of Social Work Education.
  • Possession of a valid license, issued by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners, as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) is required at the time of application.
  • Possession of a valid license equivalent to a non-commercial, class C Maryland driver's license may be required for some positions at the time of appointment.
Working Conditions

The work of this classification is essentially sedentary but may include occasional walking, standing, and/or other limited physical activities. Some positions in this classification may be required to respond to emergency situations and work overtime with little or no notice.
