Job Title: Social Worker I

Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Social Worker I to join our team at Baltimore County. As a Social Worker I, you will provide direct professional social work services to specialized populations, including children, seniors, substance abusers, and physically or mentally ill individuals.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provides consultation services to Public Health Nurses in the Maternal Infant Health Program (MIHP)
  • Provides case management services for their own caseload
  • Makes home visits
  • Attends staff conferences and meetings related to progress of patients/clients
  • Contributes to program evaluation and research
  • Prepares case histories and other reports, maintains records on social services rendered, and monitors activities of patients/clients
  • Maintains contact with other health, education, and welfare agencies and professionals in order to assure that the needs of patients/clients are met
  • Interprets specific program policies and procedures to patients/clients and other interested parties

Requirements:

  • Possession of a master's degree in social work from a college or university approved by the Council of Social Work Education
  • Valid license, issued by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners, as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW)
  • Ability to work with diverse populations and provide culturally sensitive services
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team

Working Conditions:

The work of this classification is essentially sedentary but may include occasional walking, standing, and/or other limited physical activities. Some positions within this classification require traveling between work sites.
