Job Title: Social Worker II

Job Summary:

The Social Worker II position is responsible for providing professional social work services to specialized populations, including children, seniors, substance abusers, and individuals with physical or mental health issues. The successful candidate will work under general supervision to investigate, evaluate, and monitor individual cases, develop treatment plans, and provide crisis intervention and counseling services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Investigate and evaluate individual cases to determine suitability for special programs
  • Develop and implement treatment plans to prevent or alleviate personal or environmental problems
  • Provide crisis intervention and individual or group counseling services to clients and their families
  • Consult with other health or social work professionals to address issues affecting recovery, welfare, and rehabilitation
  • Act as a liaison between health, education, welfare, and community agencies to establish an integrated and coordinated program
  • Perform case management, prepare case histories, and maintain accurate records of client activities

Requirements:

  • Possession of a master's degree in social work from a college or university approved by the Council of Social Work Education
  • Two years' experience rendering professional social work services
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices, and theories of social work and human behavior
  • Knowledge of the diagnosis, treatment, and management of social, emotional, and mental dysfunctions

Preferred Qualifications:

  • At least two years' experience providing counseling services
  • Knowledge of current social, economic, and health problems
  • Knowledge of individual, family, and group therapy dynamics and techniques

Working Conditions:

The work of this classification is essentially sedentary but may include occasional walking, standing, and/or other limited physical activities. Some positions within this classification require traveling between work sites.
