Job Summary

Baltimore County is seeking a highly skilled and dedicated Social Worker I to join our team in the Department of Health and Human Services, DSS Child Welfare. As a Social Worker I, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safety, well-being, and permanence of families in a hybrid environment to include community and office work.

Key Responsibilities
  • Interviews and identifies, assesses, and evaluates strengths and needs, if circumstances are family functioning, as well as receptiveness to services.
  • Composes and compiles treatment plans and evaluative reports; makes referrals and linkages as appropriate.
  • Provides extensive counseling and crisis intervention services for individuals/families to assist the customer in achieving the goals as delineated in the service agreement.
  • Maintains case records, case plans, and other required documentation in accordance with program and local policy requirements and guidelines.
  • Maintains contact with other health, education, and welfare agencies and professionals in order to assure that the needs of patients/clients are met.
  • Contributes to program evaluation and research.
Requirements
  • Possession of a master's degree in social work from a college or university approved by the Council of Social Work Education.
  • Valid license, issued by the Maryland Board of Social Work Examiners, as a Licensed Master Social Worker (LMSW) is required at the time of application.
  • Ability to work independently and make clinical decisions regarding the care and safety of individuals/families.
  • Strong clinical and organizational skills.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to engage family and children.
Working Conditions

The work of this classification is essentially sedentary but may include occasional walking, standing, and/or other limited physical activities.
