Position Overview

This role is situated within the Engineering Solutions Group at XP Power. The successful applicant will be tasked with the design of bespoke power delivery solutions, encompassing AC/DC, DC/DC, high power, low power, high voltage, and low voltage switch mode power supplies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design AC/DC and DC/DC switch mode power supplies using various topologies.
  • Guide products from initial concept through to mass production, ensuring adherence to performance specifications, timelines, cost, and reliability targets.
  • Work closely with cross-functional teams (including PCB layout, Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing, Supply Chain, Testing, and Quality Engineering) to guarantee that designs fulfill all DfX requirements.
  • Select raw materials, components, and suppliers based on product performance specifications, reliability, and regulatory standards.
  • Engage in research and development of emerging technologies.
  • Participate in internal design evaluations.
  • Conduct circuit simulations, DFMEA, component stress analysis, reliability predictions, Design Verification Testing, and produce technical documentation.
  • Prepare necessary documentation for product launches.
  • Assist the RMA team with root cause analyses.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering with 10-12 years of relevant experience.
  • Proficient in mixed signal circuit design, simulations, and testing of power electronics.
  • Solid understanding of power conversion principles, topologies, and technologies.
  • Experience in designing electronic assemblies and/or power conversion products.
  • Preferred experience in RF and High Voltage.
  • Ability to independently execute tests, from setup to reporting results.
  • Experience in validation with strong debugging skills and problem tracking.
  • Familiarity with test data collection and analysis.
  • Experience in developing test plans and procedures is advantageous.
  • In-depth knowledge of control theory.
  • Strong project management capabilities.
  • Ability to make economic decisions regarding product costs and manufacturing processes.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and organizational skills.
  • Strong mathematical and analytical abilities.
  • Capability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and complete tasks with minimal oversight.
