Position Summary:
The Duke University Health System is seeking a Registered Nurse to be part of our mission of Advancing Health Together. This role is situated within the Abdominal/Trauma Clinic, where we cater to patients facing complex abdominal issues and traumatic injuries.
Department Overview:
The team of trauma and critical care surgeons at this clinic specializes in managing urgent medical conditions such as appendicitis, bowel obstructions, and gallbladder complications, as well as other traumatic injuries.
Key Responsibilities:
- Deliver professional nursing care to patients in line with the RN scope as defined by the North Carolina Board of Nursing.
- Collaborate with nursing staff to enhance patient care delivery.
- Participate in the formulation and execution of nursing policies and procedures.
- Guide and supervise the use and maintenance of medical resources in accordance with physician directives and established protocols.
- Collect and analyze patient data to develop and implement effective nursing care plans.
- Establish strong interpersonal relationships with patients and their families, ensuring clear communication of relevant information regarding patient care.
Qualifications:
- A minimum of twelve months of relevant clinical experience is required. Exceptional performers with six months of experience may be considered at management's discretion.
- Candidates must possess a Bachelor's Degree in Nursing, an Associate's Degree in Nursing, or a Nursing Diploma from an accredited program.
- Registered Nurses without a Bachelor's degree must enroll in a BSN program within two years of employment and complete it within five years.

- Ability to assess the needs of patients and their families effectively.
- Strong communication skills to interact with patients, families, and healthcare teams.
- Proficient in documenting patient care and utilizing healthcare technology.
