Job Summary

This is a part-time, adjunct faculty position in the Education, Criminal Justice and Human Services Department at Southwest Tennessee Community College. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching courses in Criminal Justice, developing curriculum, and providing academic advising to students.

Key Responsibilities
  • Teach courses in Criminal Justice, including lectures, discussions, and laboratory sessions.
  • Develop and implement curriculum, including syllabi, lesson plans, and assessments.
  • Provide academic advising to students, including guidance on course selection and career goals.
  • Participate in departmental and college committees, and contribute to the development of academic programs.
  • Maintain accurate student records, including attendance, grades, and other required documents.
  • Attend faculty meetings, college assemblies, and professional development activities.
Requirements
  • Master's degree in the teaching discipline or a related field, with 18 hours of graduate work in the teaching discipline.
  • Minimum two years of teaching experience in higher education or one year of teaching experience and three years of employment in the field.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Knowledge of current teaching and learning strategies, including student-centered learning and technology integration.
  • Experience interacting successfully with diverse student populations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in writing and orally.
  • Willingness to teach classes using various instructional delivery methods.
