Job Summary

This is a part-time, adjunct faculty position in the Department of Pharmacy Technology at Southwest Tennessee Community College.

The successful candidate will provide instruction for the Pharmacy Technology program, delivering lectures and laboratory sessions that promote student-centered learning and critical thinking.

Responsibilities include developing and maintaining a classroom and lab environment conducive to effective learning, administering assessments of student learning, and ensuring compliance with ASHP accreditation standards.

The ideal candidate will possess a strong background in pharmacy technology, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to teach effectively at the collegiate level.

Minimum qualifications include a certified pharmacy technician certification, an associate's degree or higher, and evidence of ongoing professional development.

The successful candidate will be expected to maintain accurate records, provide timely feedback to students, and participate in departmental and college committees.

Responsibilities
  • Deliver instruction in classroom and clinical facilities on topics in Pharmacy Technology
  • Compile, administer, evaluate, and grade students' class work, laboratory work, assignments, tests, and papers fairly and consistently
  • Develop curricula and instructional materials such as syllabi, homework assignments, and handouts
  • Maintain office hours for students seeking academic advice and assist in student recruitment and retention
  • Maintain accurate student attendance records, grades, and other required records in compliance with federal FERPA regulations
  • Attend all faculty meetings, college assemblies, professional development, and orientation activities
  • Keep abreast of developments in the field by reading current literature, talking with colleagues, and participating in professional conferences
  • Participate in departmental and college committees and provide outreach service to the community
  • Effectively administer assessment of student learning and technical objectives
  • Ensure safe and reasonable precautions are implemented to protect students, equipment, and facilities
Requirements
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician certification
  • Associate's degree or higher
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development
  • Strong background in pharmacy technology
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to teach effectively at the collegiate level
