Job Summary:

As a key member of the Kaiser Permanente team, the Director of Physical Medicine Services will be responsible for planning, organizing, directing, and evaluating the delivery of Physical Therapy, Occupational Therapy, and Physical Medicine services in one or more medical centers and associated outpatient settings.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in program management, with experience in developing, evaluating, and staffing rehabilitation therapy services. They will be accountable for delivering high-quality, cost-effective care that meets or exceeds established standards for cost, quality, member satisfaction, access, clinical outcomes, physician satisfaction, and performance improvement.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Directs rehabilitation therapy services and programs to deliver high-quality, cost-effective care that supports strategic and business goals.
  • Develops programs to meet current and future needs, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Reviews service performance, identifies areas for improvement, and implements changes as needed.
  • Develops systems, methods, and processes to evaluate, measure, and improve clinical, business, cost/financial, and quality outcomes.
  • Hires, trains, and manages clinical and non-clinical personnel, ensuring they meet established standards of behavioral performance and clinical competencies.
  • Creates, analyzes, and maintains reports and statistics for administrative and regulatory purposes.
  • Develops and recommends service operating and capital budgets, ensuring that services operate within allocated funds.
  • Has authority for budgetary expenditures and identifies and responds to member needs, managing resources to meet these needs.
  • Develops and implements performance improvement programs, monitors and assesses program progress, and reports to Quality Management.
  • Establishes and maintains communication with multiple departments, develops relationships with academic programs, the community, and other groups, and may provide direct patient care services as needed.
  • Ensures ongoing professional development for self, clinical staff, support staff, and student affiliates, and establishes a work environment that communicates and supports team performance and organizational goals and vision.
Requirements:
  • Minimum four (4) years of management experience in a clinical rehabilitation therapy setting.
  • Graduate of an accredited Physical (P.T.) or Occupational (O.T.) Therapy curriculum with a Bachelor's, Master's, or Doctoral degree.
  • Occupational Therapist License (California) OR Physical Therapist License (California).
  • Basic Life Support.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Masters degree in a related field.
