Position Overview

The Customer Service Specialist reports to the Customer Service Supervisors and is tasked with delivering exceptional support to clients and residents of surrounding communities. This role serves as a vital resource for ensuring outstanding service, addressing inquiries, fulfilling requests, maintaining and updating database records, and resolving concerns or complaints. The Customer Service Specialist must possess a thorough understanding of customer community contract benefits, city regulations, billing systems, and the ability to softly collect payments and enroll customers in payment options during calls. Upselling additional services is also a requirement when addressing extra fees, additional pickups, and executing within contract parameters. Multi-tasking and attention to detail are essential for success in this position. The specialist must identify revenue and collection opportunities and act accordingly based on the customer profile.

Key Responsibilities
  • Primarily responsible for managing service calls, softly collecting payments, and presenting payment options.
  • Secondary responsibility includes handling billing payments to enhance the web pay customer base, with the additional duty of fully setting up new customers with all options during the initial call transaction.
  • Determines requirements by analyzing customer profiles, requiring attention to detail based on challenges, and presenting alternative solutions to customers.
  • Must be well-versed in the company’s billing database and payment options to effectively resolve customer and company needs.
  • Addresses inquiries by clarifying desired information; researching, locating, and providing accurate information.
  • Upsells additional services by recognizing opportunities to enhance accounts; explaining new services, charges for additional equipment, extra service requests, etc.
  • Requires exceptional documentation skills to keep customers informed and maintain accurate notes in the database system.
  • Updates and maintains the call center database by entering information for every call.
  • Acts as an on-site resource for customers as well as Athens sales and operations personnel.
  • Enhances job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and attending mandatory training to improve system and equipment knowledge and selling skills.
  • Advances career by taking ownership of new and diverse projects.
  • Greets customers and residents in a professional and courteous manner.
  • Meets or exceeds service quality and productivity goals established for the position.
  • Participates in various city events as a representative of the company.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of 1 - 2 years of experience in a high-volume customer service environment is required.
  • High School Diploma/GED.
  • Strong multitasking abilities and high attention to detail are required.
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation skills.
  • Proficient in building trusting relationships with customers and being attentive to their needs.
  • Customer-focused with exceptional listening abilities.
  • Data entry by touch and typing proficiency of 45 wpm.
  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office software.
  • Ability to effectively make quick, sound decisions.
  • Ability to perform physical requirements of the position with or without reasonable accommodations.
