Job Summary

The Host/Hostess plays a vital role in ensuring the success of our restaurant by providing exceptional guest service and creating a welcoming atmosphere for all patrons. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for greeting and seating guests, managing the waiting list, and ensuring that every guest has a memorable dining experience.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Guest Service
  • Greet guests immediately in a friendly and courteous manner upon arrival and acknowledge them at departure
  • Respond to and address guest concerns in a timely and professional manner
  • Exhibit Denny's Guiding Principles when interacting with guests and team members
  1. Seating and Table Management
  • Seat guests at clean, dry tables utilizing proper seating rotation
  • Maintain the waiting list and adhere to proper seating order procedures
  1. Order Taking and Beverage Service
  • Describe promotions and suggestively sell while seating guests
  • Take initial beverage orders and attend to guest needs during the entire dining experience
  1. Cash Handling and Point of Sale
  • Demonstrate safe cash handling procedures in accordance with policy and accurately complete cash, credit card, and discount transactions
  • Operate the point of sale system efficiently and accurately
  1. Teamwork and Communication
  • Assist service personnel in providing beverage orders and refills, and clearing and setting tables
  • Willingly assist other team members without being asked
  • Communicate effectively with team members and guests in a clear and concise manner
Requirements
  • Ability to raise a tray weighing up to 25 lbs.
  • Ability to bend, stoop, reach, wipe, lift, and grasp
  • Sufficient mobility to move and operate in work area
  • Ability to stand and walk during entire shift
  • Ability to hear well in a loud environment to respond to employee and guest needs
  • Basic math skills (add, subtract, multiply, and divide)
  • Ability to meet any state, county or municipal regulation pertaining to health risk concerns about food handling
  • Ability to observe and differentiate between monetary denominations
  • Ability to operate point of sale system
  • Ability to work around potentially hazardous chemicals

Working Conditions
