Key Responsibilities

The Advanced Oncology Nurse Specialist will collaborate closely with a team of oncology physicians and advanced practice providers. This role primarily focuses on managing the adult outpatient Oncology and Hematology patient population. There will also be opportunities to engage in both inpatient and outpatient care settings.

This position encompasses involvement in various aspects of cancer management, including initial assessments, treatment planning, addressing complications, and providing palliative care.

  • Duties include conducting thorough history and physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, managing symptoms, and prescribing treatments in partnership with attending physicians.
  • Additional responsibilities involve consulting with specialist physicians and team members regarding any changes in patient conditions.

Qualifications

Minimum Requirements:

A minimum of 3 years of clinical experience is required.

A Master's Degree from an accredited nursing program is essential.

Current licensure as a Registered Nurse in Arizona is mandatory.

DEA registration in Arizona is required.

Nurse Practitioner certification in Arizona is necessary.

Certification in Advanced Cardiac Life Support from the American Heart Association is required.

Basic Life Support certification from the American Heart Association is also necessary.

National certification in a Nurse Practitioner specialty (AOCNP, ANP, ACNP, FNP) is required.

Credentialing as an allied health professional with the relevant health system is essential.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience in oncology is preferred, although training will be provided for suitable candidates.
Experience in both malignant and benign hematology is advantageous.
New graduate Nurse Practitioners may be considered if they possess relevant oncology nursing experience.
