About Ironwood Cancer and Research Centers

Ironwood Physicians PC is a prominent multi-site, multi-disciplinary organization situated throughout the metro-Phoenix area, encompassing the East Valley, Scottsdale, and West Valley. Our diverse practice specializes in medical oncology, radiation oncology, integrative oncology, gynecologic oncology, breast surgery, diagnostics (PET/CT), clinical research trials, and urology services. Our state-of-the-art facilities are centered around patient care and equipped with the highest quality technology, delivering services in an integrated environment.

Five of our locations are comprehensive cancer centers, supporting over 40 medical oncologists and 11 radiation oncologists. Our Women's Centers are home to 10 breast surgeons and a gynecologic oncologist. Located in the picturesque suburban Phoenix area, we offer a full range of support facilities, excellent consultants, a welcoming community, and dedicated, well-trained staff.

Overview: We are seeking a Registered Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant for our Scottsdale and Phoenix locations. Experience in oncology or a related field is preferred. The RNP will maintain a collaborative working relationship with the supervising physician and will focus on providing patient care in both office and hospital settings.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals as necessary.
  • Counsel and educate patients on health behaviors, self-care skills, and treatment options.
  • In collaboration with the physician, treat and monitor chronic diseases, hematologic conditions, and chemotherapy side effects.
  • Obtain medical histories and conduct physical examinations.
  • Order, perform, and interpret diagnostic studies (e.g., lab tests, x-rays, EKGs) under the supervision of the collaborating physician.
  • Prescribe medications.
  • Recommend physical therapy and other rehabilitation treatments.
  • Provide survivorship directives for patients.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Desire to work in an office-based clinic.
  • Ability to work closely in a team environment and collaborate with physicians to ensure timely patient care.
  • Able to organize and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Must possess the ability to learn quickly and absorb a significant amount of information.
  • Proficient in using office equipment and computers.

Education and Experience:

  • Registered Nurse Practitioner licensed to practice in the State of Arizona.
  • ACLS/BLS certification.
  • Experience in Oncology/Hematology is preferred, but not mandatory.
