Job Overview

The Lead Cellar Operator is responsible for overseeing all aspects of beer production from the knockout of wort through to the clarification process. This role requires the ability to perform all cellar operations independently and manage various projects aimed at enhancing departmental and facility processes. The individual will actively lead teams of Cellar Operators and Technicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to all quality and safety standards for beer production at CANarchy facilities.
  • Achieve mastery in all tasks associated with Cellar Operator 1, Operator 2, and Technician 1 roles.
  • Conduct audits of raw materials and verify the accuracy of bills of materials and brand specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance on cellar equipment.
  • Participate in improvement initiatives coordinated by the Cellar Manager and/or Operations Manager.
  • Support the Cellar Manager and/or Operations Manager in managing team-related tasks and initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively and promptly using various communication tools.

Additional Duties

  • Assist in training Cellar Operator 1, Operator 2, Technician 1, and Technician 2 personnel.
  • Carry out facility-specific tasks as required or assigned.
  • Collaborate with other departments when necessary and facilitate connections between processes.

Physical and Mental Requirements

The candidate must possess the physical and mental stamina to perform duties in potentially extreme environments and manage the stressors associated with both operational and administrative tasks. Frequent lifting and moving of weights between 10-75 pounds is required. The role necessitates standing, sitting, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, talking, hearing, tasting, smelling, seeing, and operating tools and controls. Weekend and overnight shifts may be required.

Minimum Education: High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required

Minimum Experience: 2-3 years in a production brewery setting

Tools & Equipment Used: Brewery equipment, Pallet Jack, Forklift, and Scissor Lift
