Job Overview

As a Lead Cellar Operator, you will oversee all aspects of beer production from the wort knockout stage through to clarification, executing cellar tasks independently. You will be responsible for managing special projects aimed at enhancing processes within the department and the facility. In this role, you will actively lead teams comprising Cellar Operators and Technicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to all quality and safety standards established for beer production at CANarchy facilities.
  • Achieve mastery in all tasks assigned to Cellar Operator 1, Operator 2, and Technician 1 roles.
  • Conduct audits of raw materials and verify the accuracy of bills of materials and brand specifications.
  • Perform preventative maintenance on cellar equipment.
  • Participate in improvement initiatives coordinated by the Cellar Manager and/or Operations Manager.
  • Support the Cellar Manager and/or Operations Manager in team management tasks and initiatives.
  • Communicate effectively and promptly using various communication tools.

Additional Duties

  • Assist in training Cellar Operator 1, Operator 2, Technician 1, and Technician 2 personnel.
  • Carry out facility-specific responsibilities as assigned.
  • Collaborate with other departments when necessary and facilitate connections between processes.

  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to foster communication across departments.
  • Reliability, punctuality, and the capability to manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills and a proactive approach to seeking clarification when needed.
  • Sound decision-making abilities based on informed judgment.

Physical and Mental Requirements

The role demands physical and mental resilience to perform duties in challenging environments, along with the capacity to manage stress in both operational and administrative contexts. Frequent lifting and moving of weights between 10-75 pounds is required. The position involves standing, sitting, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, talking, hearing, tasting, smelling, seeing, and operating tools and equipment. Weekend and overnight shifts may be necessary.
