Job Overview

As a Lead Cellar Operator, you will oversee the complete spectrum of beer production, from the initial wort knockout to the final clarification stages. This role requires the ability to execute all cellar responsibilities independently while managing various process enhancement projects for both the department and the facility. You will take a proactive role in leading teams of Cellar Operators and Technicians.

Key Responsibilities

  • Ensure adherence to all quality and safety protocols for beer production.
  • Achieve mastery in all tasks associated with Cellar Operator 1, Operator 2, and Technician 1 roles.
  • Conduct audits of raw materials and verify the accuracy of bills of materials and brand specifications.
  • Perform routine maintenance on cellar machinery.
  • Participate in improvement initiatives as directed by the Cellar Manager or Operations Manager.
  • Assist the Cellar Manager and Operations Manager with team management and operational tasks.
  • Communicate effectively and promptly using various communication tools.

Additional Duties

  • Facilitate the training of Cellar Operator 1, Operator 2, Technician 1, and Technician 2 staff.
  • Carry out specific duties as required by the facility.
  • Collaborate with other departments when necessary and create connections between processes.

  • Proven leadership skills and the ability to foster communication across departments.
  • Dependable, punctual, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Effective communication skills and a proactive approach to seeking clarification when needed.
  • Ability to make informed and responsible decisions.

Physical and Mental Requirements

The role demands physical and mental resilience to perform duties in challenging environments. Candidates should be able to lift and move weights ranging from 10 to 75 pounds frequently. The position requires standing, sitting, walking, climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, bending, talking, hearing, tasting, smelling, seeing, and operating various tools and equipment. Flexibility to work weekends and overnight shifts may be necessary.
