About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Course Director to lead our wilderness expeditions as part of the BOLD & GOLD program. As a Course Director, you will be responsible for overseeing all aspects of our wilderness courses, including logistics, staff supervision, participant management, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities
  • Course Management: Direct all aspects of wilderness courses, including logistics, staff supervision, participants, and risk management situations.
  • Leadership Team Collaboration: Work within a leadership team to ensure all staff and participants have the necessary equipment, tools, and knowledge to be successful.
  • Staff Training and Mentorship: Train and mentor staff in how to build emotionally and physically safe environments, help participants build emotional intelligence and multicultural leadership skills, and model cultural humility and celebrate diversity.
  • Participant Support: Build strong rapport with participants, foster positive group development, create structure, and draw learning from experiential activities.
Requirements
  • Experience: Experience making the transference of a wilderness experience relevant to the everyday lives of youth.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent interpersonal communication skills and the ability to build strong relationships with youth and adults from a variety of backgrounds.
  • Leadership: Ability to role model compassionate and confident leadership, high level of self-awareness, and ability to work in a collaborative setting.
  • Education and Certifications: Current WFR or W-EMT, and CPR Certification, and Current Washington State Food Handlers Permit.
