Job Title: Construction CAD Designer/Drafter

At Janotta & Herner / Firelands Fabrication (JHI Group), we are seeking a skilled Construction CAD Designer/Drafter to join our team. As a key member of our design department, you will collaborate with project managers, engineers, consultants, superintendents, and clients to plan, coordinate, and create complete construction drawings for assigned projects.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Meet with the project team to develop and fully understand the design requirements of the project.
  2. Analyze and identify project risks.
  3. Gather and assemble the necessary measurements, dimensions, or other information required to complete the drawings.
  4. Provide the team with practical design recommendations based on the project requirements, budget, site, and recent trends.
  5. Proficiently use CAD and/or Revit to produce construction-grade drawing sets.
  6. Prepare preliminary design drawings for work acquisition and bidding.
  7. Prepare drawings, specifications, and construction documents.
  8. Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:
  • Associate's degree or certification program in architectural drafting or similar.
  • 5-10 years of experience is preferred.
  • Proficient in computer-aided design (CAD) software.
  • General knowledge of building design, specifications, codes, and structural analysis.
  • Ability to apply the fundamentals of sketching and design.
  • Mathematical aptitude and attention to detail.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities.
  • Great analytical, problem-solving, and communication skills.

Working Conditions:
This role involves working in an office environment generally during the hours of 7:00am-4:30pm. Additional overtime may be required to meet project goals or deadlines. Occasionally, flexibility in working hours will be needed based on events and business needs.
