Job Description

Job Summary:

Virginia State University (VSU) invites applications for Adjunct Faculty positions in multiple Academic Degree and Certificate Programs within the College of Natural and Health Sciences.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Teach up to 9 credit hours (in-person, online via synchronous or asynchronous modalities) per academic semester
  • Provide regular office hours to meet student needs and promote student success
  • Develop and implement effective teaching strategies to engage students
  • Assess and align student outcomes within courses or programs

Requirements:

  • Masters degree in the teaching field or a masters degree with a minimum of 18 graduate credits in the teaching field
  • Proficiency to teach courses in biology, chemistry, psychology, and nursing
  • Ability to work effectively with a culturally and educationally diverse student population
  • Proficiency and willingness to adapt to new and emerging pedagogies in the classroom

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in the teaching field
  • Prior teaching experience in a higher education environment
  • Demonstrated proficiency and experience in using instructional technologies and learning management systems

Special Requirements:

  • Selected applicants will be subject to a background check as a condition of employment
  • Virginia State University requires all faculty, staff, and students to be vaccinated for COVID-19, unless there is an approved medical or religious exemption
