Job Summary
This is a student intern role at Washington University in St. Louis. The successful candidate will provide administrative and clinical support to our healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities
- Perform administrative duties such as scheduling appointments, maintaining medical records, and coding medical information for insurance purposes.
- Provide clinical support including taking and recording vital signs, preparing patients for examination, and providing medical attention as directed by physician or nursing staff.
- Assist with preparing treatment rooms for patient examinations, keeping the rooms neat and clean, and cleaning and sterilizing equipment, instruments, and rooms.
- Interact with patients to obtain medical information, schedule activities, and provide routine information such as explaining treatment procedures, medications, diets, or pre-established instructions.
- Collect blood, tissue, or other laboratory specimens, log them, and prepare them for testing.
Requirements
- Some college or medical assistant school training.
- Knowledge of administrative and clerical procedures and systems such as word processing, managing files and records, and office procedures and terminology.
- Abilities with verbal and interpersonal communication skills to communicate with patients and family members of patients.
- Healthcare environment experience desired.
