Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to join our Vehicle Investigation and Cybersecurity Department at The Pennsylvania State University. The successful candidate will work as part of a team designing, developing, and testing mechanical systems and components, as well as providing technical support to other team members and sponsors.

Key Responsibilities
  • Collaborate with engineers to design, develop, and test mechanical or aerospace components and systems
  • 3D model and draft new product designs
  • Contribute to the development of prototypes using 3D printing technologies
  • Conduct performance and feasibility analyses on new designs and materials
  • Participate in the entire product lifecycle, from concept to production
  • Assist in the preparation of documentation, including design specifications and manuals
Requirements
  • Knowledge of SolidWorks and structural design
  • Hands-on experience with 3D printing, water jetting, and laser cutting technologies
  • Basic understanding of material properties and manufacturing processes
