Family Wellness Counselor:

The Family Wellness Counselor collaborates closely with community health programs to ensure comprehensive care and promote healthy growth for young children and their families.

Essential Qualifications:

Education: A Master's degree in clinical social work, clinical psychology, mental health counseling, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Licensure: While not mandatory, preference will be given to registered interns pursuing licensure as per Florida Statutes.

Experience:

Proven experience in applying evidence-based therapeutic techniques with adults and families, understanding the impact of trauma on children, and implementing effective crisis intervention strategies. Home visiting experience is advantageous.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Deliver counseling services to new parents facing family stress, mental health challenges, and trauma to mitigate risks of abuse or neglect.
  • Conduct mental health and psychosocial evaluations as part of the assessment process.
  • Provide evidence-based mental health treatment to clients in-person or through telehealth platforms.
  • Facilitate intakes, treatment planning, and psychotherapy for diverse populations.
  • Offer individual, couples, family, and group therapy as required.
  • Ensure timely and accurate documentation of services provided.
  • Provide crisis intervention when necessary.
  • Engage with agency and community partners for supervision, staffing, and collaborative meetings.
  • Deliver services in clients' homes, schools, and various community settings.
  • Develop and conduct training sessions for health department home visitors on strategies for working with high-risk families.
  • Maintain documentation in accordance with agency and funding standards.
  • Meet productivity expectations as outlined by the agency.
  • Availability for up to three evenings per week, Monday through Friday.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Job Requirements:
  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Must pass a drug screening prior to employment and throughout the duration of employment.
  • Must successfully complete a Criminal Background Check and other required screenings prior to employment and annually.
  • Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License and maintain an acceptable driving record, along with reliable transportation.
  • Working Conditions: Requires both indoor and outdoor work with outreach to off-site locations. Exposure to varying weather conditions may occur. Schedule may vary based on client availability.
  • Proficient in computer usage.
