JOB SUMMARY: This role involves practicing within the professional boundaries set by the Board of Nursing, focusing on assessing patient needs, administering physician-directed treatments, and educating patients and their families about their medical conditions, treatment options, and potential side effects. The position also includes counseling patients and families when necessary and supporting physicians in the comprehensive care of patients.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:
  1. Facilitate communication between clinics, schedulers, and interventional radiology (IVR) medical staff.
  2. Review electronic medical records of patients once procedures are approved by the interventional radiologist.
  3. Instruct schedulers to arrange procedures, ensuring necessary laboratory tests are completed beforehand.
  4. Prioritize IVR procedures, ensuring patients remain NPO when multiple procedures are scheduled.
  5. Coordinate preoperative consultations with interventional radiologists for procedures such as chemoembolization, kyphoplasty, angiograms, and ablations.
  6. Collaborate with social services and nutrition teams to secure necessary home supplies for patients.
  7. Manage Y-90 procedures, both pre and post.
  8. Work with the precertification team to confirm the facility's capability to provide patient care.
  9. Deliver on-site patient care and infusion services, coordinating with physicians and other staff as needed.
  10. Start intravenous catheters and infusion ports, administer medications, monitor vital signs, and assist patients with personal needs.
  11. Educate new patients on their conditions, treatment options, and available support services.
  12. Handle telephone inquiries, address patient concerns, and consult with physicians on issues requiring attention.
  13. Communicate patient health status to radiologists to determine eligibility for radiologic procedures.
  14. Perform essential nursing duties, including administering IV fluids and monitoring patients.
  15. Transport patients to and from procedures as required.
  16. Evaluate and implement new and existing protocols and programs.
  17. Maintain accurate patient records and document nursing actions and interventions.
  18. Exhibit expertise in IV therapy and injections.
  19. Provide instruction to patients, families, caregivers, and nursing staff regarding patient care.
  20. Actively participate in the imaging department, collaborating with team members on various projects.
  21. Coordinate patient care activities with home care or other ancillary services.
  22. Maintain expertise in hematology and oncology at all times.
  23. Stay informed about biotherapy, chemotherapy, and infusion therapy drugs and their side effects.
  24. Conduct initial assessments of new clinic patients, including history and physical examinations.
  25. Demonstrate strong problem-solving and critical care judgment skills.
  26. Provide comprehensive patient care and infusion services, ensuring coordination with physicians and other staff.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:
  1. Engage in ongoing education and training, including monthly online sessions.
  2. Ensure a clean, organized, and safe environment for patients and staff.
  3. Assist patients and their families with empathy, maintaining confidentiality and respect.
  4. Answer and direct phone calls or inquiries to facilitate effective communication.
  5. Support the orientation and training of new team members.
  6. Collaborate with colleagues to enhance workflow and assist with their tasks.
  7. Demonstrate flexibility in performing duties as needed.
  8. Handle emergency situations promptly and professionally.
  9. Exhibit sound judgment in addressing concerns or unusual requests.
  10. Regularly assess work to ensure client satisfaction and make necessary adjustments.
  11. Adhere to regulatory standards and company policies.
  12. Maintain regular attendance and punctuality.
  13. Comply with safety and infection control policies to ensure a safe working environment.
OTHER REQUIREMENTS:
  1. Graduate from an accredited nursing program.
  2. Possess a valid state RN license.
  3. Maintain required continuing education units as mandated by the state board.
  4. Hold Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  5. Complete Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) certification within the first year of employment.
  6. Achieve chemotherapy certification or complete the program within six months of hire.
EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
  1. Minimum of three years of clinical experience in direct patient care.
  2. Preferred experience in intensive care or emergency departments.
  3. Proficient in computer skills and basic office equipment.
  4. Ability to comprehend and follow both oral and written instructions.
  5. Certification in Conscious Sedation required within the first year of employment.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
  1. Regularly required to communicate verbally and audibly.
  2. Must be able to stand, walk, sit, and use hands for various tasks.
  3. Specific vision abilities required include close vision and the ability to adjust focus.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position may involve exposure to infectious diseases, with appropriate vaccinations and safety training provided to staff.
