Job Overview

This role is integral to the Surface Mount Technology (SMT) division. The primary responsibility of the SMT Assembly Technician is to construct products and assemble mechanical components in accordance with specifications, utilizing various tools and equipment as necessary.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Execute assembly tasks following established protocols, work instructions, schematics, and approved documentation.
  • Accurately position and align components in relation to one another within jigs or fixtures as required.
  • Utilize soldering equipment to attach small components.
  • Perform soldering on capacitors, air wound inductors, printed circuit boards, ceramic resonators, and component leads as specified in work instructions and the Build Book.
  • Employ parts cleaning solutions as needed.
  • Assemble components using hand tools, including both electric and manual screwdrivers.
  • Conduct in-process inspections to verify that components and assemblies conform to production standards.
  • Complete all assigned tasks with a focus on quality within the designated time frame.
  • Adhere to and promote compliance with all company policies and procedures.
  • Undertake additional duties as assigned.

Technical Skills and Qualifications:

  • Proficient in reading technical drawings, schematics, and process instructions.
  • Familiarity with mechanical inspection tools such as calipers, micrometers, pin gauges, thread gauges, and microscopes.
  • Prior soldering experience is preferred; candidates should be willing to obtain J-Std certification within the first month of employment.
  • Capable of assembling components using various solder types with hot plates and soldering irons, with or without magnification.
  • Ability to perform basic mechanical assembly tasks.
  • Skilled in using hand tools to complete assigned duties.
  • Adept at identifying process-related issues.
  • Quick learner with the ability to apply information effectively.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with peers and supervisors.
  • Team-oriented mindset to achieve collective goals.
  • Commitment to following all company policies, procedures, and work instructions.

Education and Experience: A high school diploma or equivalent (GED) is required, along with relevant manufacturing experience or training.

Security Clearance: U.S. Citizenship or Permanent Residency is required. Candidates may need to obtain a U.S. Security Clearance.
