Job Summary:

The ASPCA is seeking a skilled Veterinarian Medical Supervisor to join our CARE team. As a key member of our medical staff, you will be responsible for providing high-quality, compassionate care to a wide range of animals, including dogs, cats, and other species. You will work closely with our team to develop and implement medical protocols, provide medical support for large-scale cases, and oversee the daily medical care and case flow of animals housed in CARE.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Manage medical cases, ensuring high-quality individualized care and maintaining overall population medicine using shelter best practices.
  • Develop and disseminate Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and ensure their implementation.
  • Lead daily CARE rounds meetings and monthly LVT meetings.
  • Provide medical support for large-scale cases and perform humane euthanasia for animals deemed unsuitable for placement.
  • Collaborate with partner departments, including Humane Law Enforcement, Community Engagement, and the Adoption Center.
  • Attend staff meetings, doctor meetings, and other requested meetings.
  • Provide medical information and represent CARE to the public and media when requested.
  • Assist with special projects, presentations, and data collection as requested.

Requirements:

  • Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree from an accredited institution.
  • NY State veterinary license.
  • Fear Free Shelter certification within 6 months of hire date.
  • 3+ years of experience in GP, specialty, and/or shelter setting.
  • Ability to work well within a team and communicate effectively and courteously with all levels of staff.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds and work in physically challenging conditions.
