About the Role:

The Veterinarian Medical Supervisor will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to a wide range of animals, including those that are victims of cruelty and neglect. This role will involve managing medical cases, supervising veterinary technicians, and collaborating with other departments to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage medical cases, including providing compassionate and high-quality care to animals in need
  • Supervise veterinary technicians and provide guidance and support as needed
  • Collaborate with other departments, including Humane Law Enforcement and Community Engagement, to ensure the best possible outcomes for our patients
  • Develop and implement medical protocols and procedures to ensure the highest level of care for our animals
  • Provide medical support for large-scale cases, including NYPD and CE cases
  • Perform exams, diagnostic tests, and medical treatments with full utilization of Fear Free medical handling
  • Develop skilled and efficient diagnosis and treatment plans following ARC/CARE/AAH medical parameters and guidelines
  • Maintain thorough and high-quality medical records, documenting all exam findings, test results, and treatments
Requirements:
  • Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree
  • NY State veterinary license
  • 3+ years of experience in a GP, specialty, and/or shelter setting
  • Fear Free Shelter certification within 6 months of hire date
  • Previous experience in shelters preferred but not required
