Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinarian Medical Supervisor to join our team at the ASPCA. As a key member of our medical team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to a wide range of animals, including those that are victims of cruelty and neglect.

Key Responsibilities
  • Medical Case Management
    • Ensure that all medical cases are thoroughly evaluated and treated with the highest level of care.
    • Develop and implement treatment plans that are tailored to the individual needs of each animal.
    • Collaborate with other medical professionals to ensure that all animals receive comprehensive care.
  • People Management and Patient Flow
    • Oversee the daily medical care and case flow of the animals in our care.
    • Lead daily rounds and monthly meetings with the veterinary team to ensure that all animals are receiving the best possible care.
    • Develop and implement Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to ensure that all medical staff are following best practices.
  • Interdepartmental Communication and Administration
    • Collaborate with other departments, including Humane Law Enforcement and Community Engagement, to ensure that all animals are receiving the best possible care.
    • Provide medical information and represent the ASPCA to the public and media as needed.
    • Assist with special projects and presentations as requested.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience
    • Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) from an accredited institution.
    • 3+ years of experience in a shelter or veterinary setting.
    • Fear Free Shelter certification within 6 months of hire date.
  • Skills and Qualifications
    • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and prioritize multiple tasks.
    • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
    • Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
    • Ability to work standing for 8 or more hours and bend, crouch, kneel, and move freely to perform responsibilities.
