About the Role:
We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Veterinarian Medical Supervisor to join our team at the ASPCA. As a key member of our medical team, you will be responsible for providing high-quality medical care to a wide range of animals, including dogs, cats, and other species. You will also supervise and mentor our veterinary technicians to ensure they are providing the best possible care to our patients.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide medical care to animals, including exams, diagnostic tests, and treatments
- Supervise and mentor veterinary technicians to ensure they are providing high-quality care
- Develop and implement medical protocols and procedures to ensure the best possible care for our patients
- Collaborate with other departments, including shelter medicine and behavior, to ensure a comprehensive approach to animal care
- Participate in medical rounds and case discussions to ensure that all team members are aware of patient status and treatment plans
- Develop and maintain thorough medical records for all patients
- Stay up-to-date with the latest medical research and best practices in animal care
Requirements:
- Doctorate in Veterinary Medicine (DVM) degree
- Current veterinary license in New York State
- 3+ years of experience in a shelter or veterinary setting
- Experience with Fear Free Shelter certification
- Strong communication and leadership skills
- Ability to work well in a fast-paced environment
