About the Job

Job Title: Extension Educator, Food Safety

Job Summary: We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Extension Educator to join our team at the University of Minnesota. The successful candidate will be responsible for developing and delivering high-quality educational programs on food safety to various audiences across the state of Minnesota.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and deliver research-based educational programs on food safety to diverse audiences, including food entrepreneurs, food establishments, consumers, and industry partners.
  • Conduct market research to identify the needs of various audiences and design programs to meet those needs.
  • Work with partners to develop and deliver programs that promote food safety and reduce the risk of foodborne illnesses.
  • Use technology to communicate with audiences, deliver programs, and evaluate program effectiveness.
  • Collaborate with other Extension educators and partners to develop and deliver statewide educational programs.

Requirements:

  • Master's degree in food science, nutrition, food safety, food technology, public health, or environmental health.
  • At least one year of experience in food science, food production or processing, and/or food service.
  • Experience designing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Three years of experience in food science, food production or processing, and/or food service.
  • Experience designing, delivering, and evaluating educational programs in food safety.
  • Certifications in food safety, such as Safe Food Handler or Certified Food Protection Manager.
