About the Job

As an Extension Educator - 4-H Youth Development, you will play a vital role in creating learning opportunities that address local needs and connect community members with University of Minnesota research. This position is a link between the University and Minnesota residents, fostering a community-based academic professional who can effectively communicate and work with diverse groups.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for leading, managing, and stewarding the full range of 4-H Youth Development programming in the county/tribal community. This includes:

  • Developing and implementing high-quality, culturally relevant programs that support youth in learning and leading.
  • Engaging youth, volunteers, and partners to create a program plan that reflects the demographics of the county/tribal community and addresses local needs.
  • Managing and monitoring compliance with organizational policies and procedures, including youth safety, risk management, and financial management.
  • Recruiting, orienting, supervising, and supporting interns and short-term employees.
  • Developing and implementing a year-round communication plan that attracts youth, families, and volunteers from diverse backgrounds.
Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need:

  • A Bachelor's degree in a field related to education, social sciences, family and consumer sciences, sociology, psychology, or agriculture.
  • Experience leading, teaching, and/or managing programs for youth.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work with diverse groups.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, timelines, and schedules while maintaining high-quality work.
