Key Responsibilities

  • Menu Planning and Execution: Work closely with operations managers to plan menus and ensure that all food is prepared according to healthcare guidelines and standardized recipes.
  • Staff Supervision and Training: Supervise and train resident workers on food preparation, handling, and safety procedures.
  • Inventory Management: Properly store and manage food inventory, adhering to food safety policies and procedures.
  • Cleaning and Sanitation: Clean and sanitize work areas, equipment, and utensils to maintain a high level of cleanliness and hygiene.
  • Communication and Liaison: Act as a daily liaison with facility staff and inmates/residents, ensuring that all needs are met and concerns are addressed.
Requirements
  • Education and Experience: Possess a high school diploma or equivalent, with at least 1 year of experience as a cook in a cafeteria or food service setting.
  • Skills and Abilities: Proven knowledge of basic principles of food preparation, various cooking methods, and food safety regulations. Ability to work independently with limited supervision, lift items weighing up to 40 pounds, and stand and walk for extended periods.
  • Certifications and Licenses: Must be able to obtain food safety certifications and have a valid driver's license.
