Key Responsibilities

  • At the GS-5/7 entry level, you will engage in a range of developmental and progressively challenging assignments in land adjudication, aimed at providing comprehensive experience in land law examination.
  • As a GS-9 journey level examiner, you will evaluate and process a full spectrum of complex land cases, ensuring accuracy and thoroughness.
  • At the GS-11 senior level, you will routinely offer advice and guidance to fellow examiners, management, and/or Solicitors regarding general legal principles, precedent decisions, and the correct application of public land laws.
  • Across all levels, you will process and/or review land cases, including rights-of-way applications for various land uses, mining, mineral extraction, oil and gas pipelines, electronic signal transmission systems, and infrastructure such as roads, trails, and highways.
  • All levels will also involve processing and/or reviewing Alaska Native Claims Settlement selections and Native allotment claims, as well as mineral cases, including applications for permits to mine or drill, communication agreements, leasing, and lease terminations.
