Job Overview

This role is open to the general public and current employees of the Municipality. This is a non-represented position and adheres to the Personnel Rules of the Municipality of Anchorage.

Work Schedule: Monday to Friday; 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Location: City Hall; 632 W. 6th Avenue

Key Responsibilities

- Provide essential support to attorneys in managing daily court cases.
- Responsible for the preparation and finalization of various legal documents submitted to courts at all levels.
- Engage in data entry and case management tasks.
- Communicate effectively with officials and individuals via phone and email.
- Process incoming and outgoing legal documents, including scanning, filing, and faxing.
- Coordinate travel arrangements for attorneys related to case matters.
- Perform additional duties as assigned, including training in the Municipal Impounds department to assist the public with inquiries regarding impounded vehicles.

Qualifications

- High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with five (5) years of experience in legal office practices, legal research, court processing, and record-keeping systems, including one (1) year at the level of Legal Secretary II or equivalent.

- Alternatively, an Associate's degree in Criminal Justice, Paralegal Studies, or a related field with three (3) years of relevant experience, including one (1) year at the level of Legal Secretary II or equivalent.

- Must obtain Alaska Public Safety Information Network (APSIN) certification within 30 days of hire.

- Employment is conditional upon a satisfactory background check.
- All required certifications and licenses must remain current throughout employment.
- Military Service Interview Preference is available for veterans and current members of the National Guard or military reserves.
