Job Title: School Nurse

Uncommon Schools Roxbury Prep is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate School Nurse to join our team. As a School Nurse, you will play a vital role in ensuring the health and well-being of our students, while also supporting the school community in maintaining a safe and healthy environment.

Responsibilities:
  • Provide medical care and support to students, including administering medications, treating injuries, and managing chronic conditions.
  • Develop and implement health education programs for students, teachers, and staff to promote healthy habits and prevent illnesses.
  • Collaborate with school administrators, teachers, and parents to ensure that students receive the necessary support and accommodations to succeed academically and personally.
  • Manage and maintain accurate and up-to-date student health records, including immunization records, medical histories, and treatment plans.
  • Participate in school-wide health initiatives, such as health fairs, wellness programs, and disease prevention campaigns.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents, and staff to ensure that all health-related concerns are addressed in a timely and compassionate manner.
Requirements:
  • Valid license to practice as a Registered Nurse in Massachusetts.
  • BSN or Masters in Nursing required.
  • Two full years of employment as a Registered Nurse in a child health, community health, or other relevant clinical nursing setting is desired.
  • Completion of an orientation program based on the requirements for delivery of school health services as defined by the Department of Public Health.
  • Certification in CPR, including AED training.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Excellent computer skills, including Microsoft Word and Excel.
  • Maturity and ability to work independently.
  • Outstanding communication skills and strong interpersonal skills with students, parents, colleagues, and community members.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines.
  • Prior experience working in schools and/or urban communities preferred.
