Job Summary

The School Registered Nurse (RN) is a vital member of the educational team, responsible for providing direct school nursing services to promote prevention, medical management, and academics. This role requires a strong understanding of nursing principles, pediatrics, and education.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provides school nursing services to direct service school districts
  • Assesses and evaluates the health and developmental status of students
  • Interprets health and developmental status to school personnel, parents, and students
  • Serves as a health resource person in the health instruction curriculum
  • Provides parent education related to student needs
  • Participates in the development of Health Plans and attends school conferences
  • Provides care, delegates, and teaches care to others under the established plan of care
  • Attends continuing education programs and participates in Aveanna in-servicing and training
  • Exhibits behavior supporting and promoting student rights and overall wellbeing
  • Follows Aveanna and school board policies and procedures
Requirements
  • Graduate of an accredited Diploma, Associate, or Baccalaureate School of Nursing
  • Current, unrestricted state license as a Registered Nurse in the state of practice
  • Current CPR certification
  • Current Basic Life Support certification
  • Demonstrated proficiency in clinical assessments, documentation, and compliance with nursing care and policies and procedures
Preferred Qualifications
  • Pediatrics experience
Physical Requirements
  • Must be able to speak, write, read, and understand English
  • Must be able to travel
  • Must be able to lift 50 pounds
  • Must be able to sit and climb stairs
  • Must have visual and hearing acuity
  • Must have strong sense of smell and touch
Environment
  • Must be able to function in a wide variety of environments
  • Must be able to expose to allergens and other various conditions
