Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Patient Transporter to join our team at the University of Virginia. As a Patient Transporter, you will be responsible for safely transporting patients to various locations within the Medical Center, while maintaining a high level of productivity and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities
  • Transport patients safely and efficiently to various locations within the Medical Center
  • Verify patient identity and destination to ensure accurate transport
  • Ensure equipment is clean and in good repair, and use proper transfer and transport techniques
  • Deliver supplies and equipment to various areas within the Medical Center
  • Clean equipment after each patient use
  • Inspect all equipment and supplies upon receipt and prior to delivery
  • Work efficiently to maintain high productivity and minimize idle time
  • Collaborate with Patient and Guest Services to provide excellent customer service
Requirements
  • High School Graduate or equivalent experience
  • No experience required, but previous experience in a healthcare setting is preferred
  • American Heart Association (AHA) Heart Saver AED Course required within 90 days of hire
Physical Demands

The Patient Transporter role requires frequent standing, bending, stooping, traveling, and reaching. The position also requires proficiency in communication, auditory, and visual skills, as well as the ability to write legibly. The individual must be able to lift, push, and pull 100lbs, and may be exposed to chemicals, outdoor climate, blood/body fluids, and infectious disease.
