Patient Care Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Patient Care Technician to join our team at the Commonwealth of Virginia. As a Patient Care Technician, you will play a vital role in providing safe and efficient care to patients in the procedural care space.
Key Responsibilities- Work independently with minimal supervision to manage multiple requests effectively.
- Sort and dispose contaminated materials per hospital guidelines.
- Transport patients to and from procedures, providing comfort and reporting concerns as needed.
- Demonstrate infection control principles and aseptic techniques.
- Competency in supply and equipment identification and locations.
- Communicate effectively in English in person, in writing, and on the telephone.
- American Heart Association (AHA) Health Care Provider BLS Certification required.
- Certified to practice as a Nurse Aide in the Commonwealth of Virginia or meet one of the following criteria:
- Successful completion of the UVa PCT Education Program or another approved PCT Education Program.
- Documented proof of at least 1 year of recent experience in a similar PCT role from an outside institution.
- Passage of a nationally recognized and accredited PCT Certification exam.
- OR meet one of the following criteria:
- Currently enrolled student nurses who have successfully completed the Medical/Surgical Clinical Experience and Didactic.
- EMT or above certification.
- Graduate of an accredited nursing program.
The job requires frequent bending/stooping and driving. Proficient communicative, auditory and visual skills; attention to detail and ability to write legibly; ability to lift/push/pull 20 - 50lbs and > 100lbs. May be exposed to chemicals, blood/body fluids and infectious disease.
