Job Summary:

The University of New Mexico is seeking a highly skilled Pharmacy Technician III to join our team. As a Pharmacy Technician III, you will play a critical role in ensuring the safe and efficient dispensing of medications to patients. This is a challenging and rewarding position that requires strong communication and problem-solving skills, as well as a commitment to providing exceptional patient care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist pharmacists in the preparation and dispensing of medications, including compounding and packaging
  • Conduct audits and quality control checks to ensure accuracy and compliance with regulations
  • Manage inventory and ordering of medications, including specialty and hazardous medications
  • Provide excellent customer service to patients and healthcare providers, responding to questions and concerns in a timely and professional manner
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to ensure seamless patient care and medication management
  • Participate in ongoing education and training to stay up-to-date on the latest medications, technologies, and best practices
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of policies and procedures to improve patient safety and quality of care

Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required; associate's or bachelor's degree in a related field preferred
  • 2 years of experience as a pharmacy technician, with a focus on medication management and patient care
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician (CPhT) certification in New Mexico required within 60 days of hire
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills, with the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to maintain accurate records and reports
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds and stand for long periods of time

Working Conditions:

  • Work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment with frequent interruptions and deadlines
  • Exposure to chemicals, biohazardous materials, and other hazardous substances
  • May be required to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays
