Overview:

The Bartender is responsible for adhering to all relevant regulations, policies, and standards associated with employment at Westminster and its communities.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and slice fruit garnishes for beverages.
  • Familiarize oneself with lounge menus to effectively discuss options with patrons.
  • Maintain a fully stocked bar, ensuring an adequate supply of liquor, beer, wine, mixers, ice, napkins, straws, glassware, and other necessary items.
  • Possess comprehensive knowledge of the wine and beer selections to assist guests in their choices and provide recommendations.
  • Take beverage orders from guests or servers and serve them with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Deliver orders promptly and efficiently.
  • Process checks and collect payments in accordance with restaurant standards.
  • Prepare and serve food items from the lounge menu to guests.
  • Engage with guests, taking orders and serving drinks and food.
  • Verify identification to ensure compliance with legal age requirements for all customers.
  • Maintain cleanliness by cleaning the bar, tables, chairs, and work area.
  • Organize the bar area to enhance drink preparation and inventory management.
  • Participate in pre-service meetings.
  • Ensure personal uniform is clean and pressed to meet restaurant standards.
  • Address guest concerns promptly and escalate to management when necessary.
  • Notify the Food & Beverage Manager of required liquor, beer, wine, and other supplies.
  • Report any equipment needing repair to the Food & Beverage Manager.
  • Monitor refrigeration temperatures to guarantee proper beverage serving temperatures.
  • Adhere to all food and beverage regulations.
  • Restock and replenish lounge inventory and supplies as needed.

Essential Qualifications:

Education/Requirements:

  • High school diploma or GED required; some college education preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience as a bartender.
  • Excellent skills in opening bottled wine and in pouring, mixing, garnishing, and serving drinks.

Additional Eligibility Qualifications:

  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Must maintain applicable state health and/or alcohol compliance card.

Physical and Environmental Requirements:

This position involves various physical activities, including:

  • Balancing, kneeling, reaching, crouching, pulling, standing, manual dexterity, pushing, stooping, grasping, and lifting up to 40 lbs.

Working Conditions:

Exposure to inside and outside environmental conditions, low risk of bloodborne pathogens, physical hazards, and respiratory pathogens. Must be able to manage the mental and emotional stress associated with this role.
