Job Summary

As a key member of our leadership team, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning, coordination, and implementation of HIM core functions, ensuring compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, and driving continuous improvement initiatives to achieve hospital and corporate goals.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead and manage a team of HIM professionals, providing guidance, coaching, and development opportunities to ensure their success.
  • Develop and implement departmental processes, guidelines, and policies to ensure efficient and effective HIM operations.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure seamless integration of HIM functions with other revenue cycle workflows and departments.
  • Monitor and analyze HIM performance metrics, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions to achieve departmental and hospital goals.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory and accreditation standards, maintaining a high level of quality and accuracy in HIM operations.
  • Develop and implement training programs to maintain the currency of certification(s) and ensure ongoing professional growth and development.
  • Represent Orlando Health through positive community interaction, promoting the organization's mission and values.
Requirements
  • Associate's degree or higher in Health Information Management, Business, Healthcare Administration, or a closely related field.
  • Or completion of a High School Diploma or equivalent and one of the following: The American Health Information Management Association's (AHIMA) Independent Study Program, an approved Medical Transcription, Health Information Technology, or Coding Program/Certificate, or two (2) years of college courses in Health Information Management.
  • Must maintain one of the following: Registered Health Information Administrator (RHIA), Registered Health Information Technologist (RHIT), Certified Coding Specialist (CCS) by the American Health Information Management Association, or Certified Professional Coder (CPC) by the American Association of Professional Coders.
  • Two (2) years of management/leadership experience in a healthcare setting or related business is required. One (1) year of working experience directly in a Health Information Management field is also required.
